Meet Our Midwives
Marlene Summers, ARNP, CNM
Marlene Summers attended the University of Florida to attain her undergraduate nursing degree as well as for her nurse-midwifery degree. Prior to becoming a midwife she helped women through labor and delivery as an RN at Shands Lake Shore Hospital for more than 15 years. Much of her career has focused on family planning, preventative healthcare and pregnancy.
Today, Marlene is the leader at Lake City OBGYN with a full team of assistants and doctors. Since becoming a midwife she has attended over 2,000 births. She has even begun helping some of the women she helped come into this world deliver children of their own. She is the mother of two children and is now a grandmother of two boys; all, the pride of her life. For Marlene, there is no greater joy than the miracle of birth.
Cindi Vista, ARNP, CNM
Cindi has been a nurse since 1988 and a Certified Midwife since 2005. She understands that every woman is unique, both physically and emotionally, requiring very individualized care. Her focus is on providing comprehensive pregnancy and primary healthcare to women of all ages.
Cindi believes midwifery is about listening to women and then providing care that is flexible, empowering and supportive.
Her favorite part of midwifery is learning about each couple; how they met and meeting the other family members. “I just love the whole experience,” says Cindi. “I feel very blessed to be a part of this experience with each of the families I care for.”
Cindi has two children of her own, a son and a daughter. She enjoys traveling, gardening and nearly all outdoor activities.
Ronnie Jo Stringer, ARNP, CNM
Ronnie Jo was a Registered Nurse at Georgetown University Hospital for 4 years before moving to Florida. She loves central Florida because there is so much to do here outdoors. She enjoys sports, outdoor activities and the arts.
Ronnie Jo says “I love being a part of one of the most important times in a woman’s life. I do my best to help families have the best possible experience. I am devoted to helping women take an active role in their pregnancy and delivery experience. I believe women should have choices about their care.”
Ronnie’s focus is on low-risk obstetrics, adolescent GYN, and contraception.
Jennifer Pruitt, ARNP, CNM
Jennifer has a Master of Science in Nursing/Nurse-Midwifery from the University of Florida. Her focus is on low-risk obstetrics, adolescent gynecology, contraception, and family planning. She was born and raised in Gainesville and is a Gator through and through; or is it orange and blue?
Jennifer is married to her high school sweetheart and they have two children. She has been a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse for most of her career and feels blessed to work in this field. In her free time she loves taking mini vacations with her family.
“What I love most about my job,” says Jennifer “is the interactions I have with my patients. I feel so honored to be a part of such a milestone in their lives. I also love counseling and educating young women in their adolescent years.”
